Thanks for the post and the opportunity to express how much joy and goodwill your father brought to me as both professional and friend. Our CSU careers nearly coincided and almost four decades of campus conversation would not have been the same without input from the likes of your father, T.R. Young and all the others who had the courage to speak out when many of us were silent.

I really admired your father's spirit in voicing out his opinions and political views which were in my common interests. Great spirit and energy until his last. Your family should be proud, and may he rest in peace!

Thank you for your kind words. We sure miss him.
On June 5th, 2016, at the formation meeting for the official chapter of the local Northern Colorado Veterans for Peace, it was suggested and decided that the chapter be named "The Dan Lyons" chapter. New to the area, I'm just studying this blog and some other writings about and by Dan. I read that he said once, "I never expected to have any effect on history — but in raising hell, I bolstered my own self-respect, which is almost all an old man has left." Perhaps this will be one more legacy, a place in history.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We (the family) are so happy at the thought that the Veterans for Peace chapter would be named after him. He would be extremely honored and pleased. Ending war was his life's mission and he kept at it even when he needed a walker to get to the street corner to hold his signs.
